A big fat NO to Lasse double-u

I hate Barbie dolls! I always did and probably always will. While my paternal cousin was jealous, because my mother and maternal grandmother (unlike her teacher mother and teacher grandmother) weren´t greenies, who didn´t get me (only) toys of high educational value, me couldn´t have cared less about the Barbie dolls, I´ve gotten as child. Those gawky long legs and all this pastell-coloured garbage, that was going with them, was so not my thing.
The only Barbie doll, which had ever caught my interest was the one, which could get "pregnant" (and via c-section, so if you had removed her belly, "she" could give birth)

However (apart from being a crazy Royal watcher) I can´t say, that I had to face any disadvantages through my lack of interest in "Barbie campervans"
In the opposite...many of these huge Barbie fans are now without any finished education but with two children (who don´t know their two different biological daddies...sometimes it´s not bad to deal with pregnant Barbies) (we are talking about personal observations. Don´t ask me to write a thesis on "Barbie-fans and their lifestyle" ;) ) OR
they are celebrated Swedish Designers.

Otherwise I can´t explain, why Lars Wallin is designing, what he is designing. Well, it would be probably even easier to explain, why he is designing, what he is designing, than to explain, why people like it.
Ok, it´s "each to their own" and "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"...and some like patchwork families with changing daddies and living on welfare and some not...blabla...usually I am tolerant and I am bad enough with sewing cotton to appreciate the work of real talents in this field...

...but Lars Wallin is the one, who is mostly mentioned, when it comes to the possible designer of Victoria´s (the Crown Princess, I mean...not the Beckham or the Silvstedt) Wedding dress.
And as it seems he is already pondering about accepting this "job"

– Det vore ett hedervärt uppdrag att designa Victorias brudklänning, men jag har
inte fått någon förfrågan, säger Wallin.

-It would be an honourable job to design Victoria´s wedding gown, but I haven´t received any enquiry (yet), says Wallin

And he hopefully never will. And if he though would, he would hopefully say "no" in some spirit of "humbleness" and love for Sweden. He would think in blue-yellow terms and of SVT selling the broadcasting rights to international TV channels and would say "nej tack", so that the honourful task would go to some young talented designers or Swedish designers with more international experiences (like Lars Nilsson)
If he would say yes, then better prepare for the "princess version" of these dresses
Charlotte Pirelli in her "boob-a-licious" L. Wallin wedding gown

It looks as if the big master had some remnants, that he could "work up" with this dress

And some more...strapless, spotlight on boobs, girly...blaaaaa

And here some shoes by Lars Wallin

...or prepare for a white version of Victoria´s awful shiny pastell-coloured prom dresses by Lars Wallin

Hui, that was now an arrogant blog entry, full of blasphemy for the big Lord of Swedish fashion. Forgive me...as soon as I am starting to talk about wedding gowns, I am non compos mentis or in other words...a silly Barbie girl ;)

Lika som bär? Or everyone has gotten a double...

...in the world, they say. And how practically if your double is your boyfriend. Ok, Victoria and Daniel aren´t the Olsen twins in a male and female version. But it´s though interesting, how they are often looking like siblings...

And by now it even seems as if they would adapt their facial expressions to each other (something, that is usually seen in old long-time couples. Ok, "long time" would soon apply to them)

An other "Royal" couple, that is sharing many features is Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette Marit. If you would say, that their daughter Ingrid Alexandra looks like her father, you would be probably as right, as if you would say, that she looks like her mother ;)
BTW scientists say, that couples with similiar features are tendentially the happier ones...

Why would a princess choose an intellectual, if she can have a M-A-N (?)

Past weekend the Queen and Crown Princess had some mother/daughter time. They had attended the wedding of Annika Middelschulte to Marten Bunnemann in Salzburg/Austria. The bride is the daughter of a friend out of Silvia´s time as Olympia hostess

Just like her mother Beate (who is married to Dr. Achim Middelschulte, who had worked for many years in the managment of E.ON Ruhrgas) also Annika made a good catch with her Jonas Bergström-like top school lawyer.

Victoria´s upper class girlfriends are in the majority married and that to guys with a similar background.
And if we take a look back...Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands both married diplomats (which would probably fit the job description of a modern Prince consort as much as a polyglot Olympia hostess the one of a modern Princess/Queen)

Instead of a lawyer or diplomat Victoria is dating an Gym owner. No...no, I don´t wanna belittle Mr. Westling´s gym empire. Since this blogger, a natural born couch potato, got in 2002 killer abs, thanks to the help of experienced gym trainers, she has deep respect for the business. Besides in times of the spa, health and everyone-can-run-a-marathon movement, it´s surely smart to set on gyms.

But is an gym owner ready for the Prince job?

And wouldn´t one expect a Crown Princess, who had met the smartest people in the world and who visited a lot of top institutions, to choose some highly educated diplomat? They would sit in the evenings in front of the chimney, would share a bottle of precious Chardonnay wine and would discuss world politics and history.
Ok, Victoria, who is suffering from dyslexia, is self no intellecutal and here weakness for the ordinary countryside life is widely known (even though it´s maybe also a part of the PR concept)
But still for the sake of the Monarchy...couldn´t she have found someone, who got some media experience (like Crown Princess Letizia), some experiences in international economy (like Crown Princess Maxima) or some experiences in the world of nobility (like Crown Princess Mathilde)?
She could...but I guess for the WOMAN Victoria, a man like Daniel is 1000 times more attractive.

Daniel isn´t befriended with the media...even though he tries his best, he is still looking at them like most people when facing a traffic warden. Sometimes even sarcasm seems to shine through. He doesn´t seem to understand, why they wanna get a piece of the life with his girl.
In all the years he did never talk about her to the press.
I am wondering, what he must have thought about the Monarchy before he had met Princess Madeleine (and later Victoria)
Did he ever take a look into Svensk Damtidning, did he ever watch the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony fully?
It´s said, that he seemed completely unimpressed, when he got Victoria as customer and treated her like everyone else.
Just imagine, how nice it must be for a Crown Princess, if finally someone in the own country, doesn´t play the toady and doesn´t praise you, as if you would be the best thing since sliced bread!
Instead of praise, it would be:

-Contract your butt muscles a little more!!

1 week ago Victoria and Daniel had a break at the coffeehouse Mocca (what we all get to know ;)) When it was time to pay, Victoria foraged for some money in her purse...but of course her noble knight paid the bill.
It´s an old game, that many women know. In fact many just bring the own purse as accessoire. Of course you would pretend to pay. But then the guy would give you a proud and somewhat patronising look (Daniel with his oblique thin smile is surely a pro in that) and would take a big note out of his wallet.
And so both sides win. The female part can save the money for new underwear, some glittertrash make-up or new shoes and the male part feels like the bread-earner. ;)

Daniel seems like a man full of testosterone and pride, old school style so to say.

Even though Victoria got a driver´s license at 18, it´s Daniel, who is driving.

Once Daniel had met a Paparazzi and had some small talk with him. The Paparazzi had asked Daniel, if he would think, that he, the Paparazzi, would be quite annoying. Daniel answered:

-Well, my life you haven´t ruined really, but Madeleine was angry at you before. You know, how young girls can be

Hoho, yes those silly young girls, who can bitch so wonderfully, while Ockelbo Cowboys take things with stoic calmness.

I am wondering, what the feminists, who triggered in the 70ties the change of the succession would think about Victoria, the woman, who is equal to men, being in love with someone, who is so far away from the feministic men image (?)
In the past years Daniel went many steps of the way, that would lead to marriage and the consort job. He had changed his style, he tried to be nicer to the press, he attended a church service, that was listed as official duty for Victoria and Madeleine...and he probably even enjoyed this "new lifestyle" up to a certain point.
But so far, it still seems, as if he would have the control and as if Victoria would have to wait for her man like a mistress for her lover´s divorce. Only that the "wife" isn´t out of blood and flesh, but is Daniel´s independence and Daniel´s very own business projects...

What is this Blog about?

Who is Crown Princess Victoria and who is Daniel Westling?

Crown Princess Victoria Ingrid Alice Désirée was born on the 14th of July 1977 as eldest child of the Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf and his wife Queen Silvia. Due to the change of the succession in 1979, she is the heir to Swedish throne.
Victoria´s official biography, you can read here:

Biography on Royalcourt.se

As you can see Sweden´s Crown Princess is quite a "busy bee". So it´s maybe no surprise, that her "official" hobby is bee-keeping ;) ...next to painting in watercolours and taking long walks with her labrador Jambo.
A hard working, sweet and down-to-earth woman...the dream of all parents-in-law you may say?

So it maybe may seem to Olle & Eva Westling, who are the parents of Olof Daniel Westling. He was born on the 15th of September 1973 in Almby and grew up in Falun and Ockelbo. Later he worked as Personal Trainer in Stockholm and soon he started his own gym together with a colleague. And there he one day got a Royal customer, he started a romance with.
This romance between Victoria and Daniel is going on since (at least) 2002 and was the breeding ground for many speculations. Will there be a wedding or not? That´s the question this Blog is about. Since Royals are acting within networks, I will probably also deal with other Royals every now and then.

Victoria and Daniel

What does "Och vem bryr sig" mean?

It means "And who cares?" and it´s part of the vocabulary of nearly every intellectual Swede, who got lost in the Expressen&Aftonbladet (=tabloids) Bermuda triangle and who feels then an sudden urge to comment (or better said to not comment) on such trivial matters as Royalty.
I am shamelessly admitting, that I care! I want to follow Victoria´s and Daniel´s way and I want the whole package engagement-wedding-bebisar. If you care too, this is the right Blog for you ;)
